Bogus cold callers east devon

Bogus cold callers east devon

We have had reports in east devon of persons visiting addresses offering to complete tree and gardening jobs. these people are being very pushy around the cost and wanting cash payment.
We are encouraging local residents to not engage with these people and report to your local police if they do not leave.

Please be vigilant and wary of all cold callers, all employees of these companies must identify themselves correctly, if unsure contact the company to verify the name and credentials before allowing them into your home.

If in doubt, keep them out. Ask them to make an appointment or come back later when someone else is around. Genuine callers won’t mind. If you are suspicious, report the incident to the police.
Do not open the door if you are uncomfortable doing so. A door chain allows you to open the door enough for you to see who is calling before shutting the door if necessary.
For more advice please see the Devon & Cornwall police website.
