I wanted to provide an update regarding violence against women and girls, which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. On 2 November 2026, officers were carrying out patrols in Meanwhile Gardens, W10, when they came across a female who was clearly in distress. Using their experience, professionalism and compassion, officers took the time to speak with her and establish what had happened. The victim disclosed that she had been assaulted by her partner and that threats had been made against her.
Officers immediately carried out enquiries in the area and, following a short search, located the suspect. He was arrested on suspicion of common assault and threats to kill.
A thorough investigation followed, with officers gathering evidence and supporting the victim throughout the process. As a result, the male was subsequently charged and remanded to court for intentional strangulation and assault by beating.
This was an excellent piece of policing by the officers involved. Their decision to patrol the right locations, combined with their compassion, professionalism and determination to protect those at risk, ensured that a vulnerable victim received the support she needed and that a dangerous offender was brought before the courts.
Domestic Abuse: We Are Here to Help Domestic abuse can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender or background. We want victims to know that they are not alone and that support is available. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic abuse: • Report concerns to police as soon as it is safe to do so. • In an emergency, always call 999. • Speak to local neighbourhood officers if you have concerns about someone in your community. • Report suspicious incidents or information that could help keep someone safe. By working together and looking out for one another, we can help protect vulnerable people and make our communities safer for everyone. A huge well done to the officers involved for their outstanding work and commitment to protecting the public.
We take violence against women and girls incredibly seriously and will do everything in our power to ensure those who commit these crimes see justice.
