Burglary in Crayford

Burglary in Crayford

It's been several weeks since there was a reported residential burglary in Crayford. However, on Thursday 5th November between 12.30-17.50 a burglary took place in Crayford Way. Entry to the building was made via a rear ground floor window. A significant number of personal effects were stolen including keys to vehicles and the house.

With the winter nights drawing in and leading up to Christmas, burglars may be more active. The Metropolitan Police do actively patrol and target these offenders but we would ask that you take note of the general advice on how to prevent this crime.

Ensure all windows and doors are secure when leaving your home.

Consider installing a home alarm system.

Consider installing CCTV and dusk to dawn lighting.

Report any suspicious activity; look out for your neighbours. If you see anyone looking or behaving suspiciously in your area call 999.

Don't advertise your goods. Keep valuables like tablets and laptops out sight of windows and keys away from letterboxes.

Make your home look occupied, use timer lights and cancel deliveries if you are going away for a period of time.

Keep gates, sheds and garages locked, don't leave tools laying around as they can be used to break in.

For further advice on keeping your home safe, visit: www.met.police.uk/burglary. In an emergency always dial 999. For other police enquiries call 101 or visit www.met.police.uk.

Please consider sharing this update with your friends, family and neighbours. Together we can prevent crime.
