Crime prevention

Hi Residents,

Hope you are all well. 

I am sending some crime preventions to you all so you all can protect yourself from any criminality within your area. 

Burglary: 

Always lock doors and windows, even when you are at home.

Ensure all external doors have good quality locks and are in good working order.

Keep house and car keys out of sight and away from doors, windows, and letterboxes.

Consider installing a burglar alarm, CCTV, or a video doorbell.

Use timer switches on lights when away from home to make the property appear occupied.

Do not leave valuable items, such as laptops, jewellery, or handbags, visible through windows.

Secure sheds, garages, and outbuildings with strong locks and consider anchoring valuable tools and bicycles.

Ensure side gates are locked to prevent access to the rear of the property.

Avoid posting holiday plans or extended absences on social media.

Car theft:

Always lock your vehicle and ensure all windows and sunroofs are fully closed.

Never leave your vehicle unattended with the engine running.

Keep keys out of sight and away from doors, windows, and letterboxes.

Store keyless-entry vehicle keys in a Faraday pouch to block signal theft.

Consider using additional security devices such as steering wheel locks, pedal locks, or vehicle trackers.

Park in well-lit areas where possible and choose locations covered by CCTV.

At home, park on a driveway or in a garage if available.

Remove all valuables from your vehicle, including bags, wallets, mobile phones, and tools.

Do not leave vehicle documents inside the vehicle.

Ensure any installed tracking devices, alarms, and immobilisers are operational.

Be vigilant of suspicious persons or vehicles seen checking door handles, looking into vehicles, or loitering around parked cars.

Report any suspicious activity, unknown callers, or vehicles acting suspiciously in your area via 101, or 999 in an emergency.
