Burglary

Burglary

With the Christmas period fast approaching, we traditionally see an increase in burglary-related offences. We would therefore like to remind residents to remain vigilant and take a few simple precautions to help protect their homes and belongings.

Please be alert to the following:

Secure your property - ensure all doors and windows are locked, even when you are at home or only popping out for a short time.

Avoid advertising your absence - be mindful of posting holiday plans or photographs on social media while you are away.

Keep valuables out of sight - do not leave gifts, laptops, jewllery or other valuable items visibile through windows.

Dispose of packaging carefully - avoid leaving empty boxes for expensive electrical items outside your property.

Use lighting - timer switches for lights to give the impression that someone is home

Secure sheds & garages - ensure outbuildings are locked and valuable tools and equipment are secured.

Remember: If you see something suspicious, report it, in an emergency or if a crime is in progress, call 999. For non-emergecny incidents, contact police on 101 or report online.
