Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Sunday

This Sunday Chelsea Safer Neighbourhood Officers will be attending Remembrance Sunday Ceremonies on our Wards.

We remember everyone who has made the ultimate sacrifice so that we have the life we lead today.

In the two World Wars Met Police Officers were among those who served.

In the nave of Westminster Abbey is a Roll of Honour book for members of the Metropolitan Police who died in the 1914-18 and 1939-45 wars.
During WW1, more than 4,000 officers were either re-called or volunteered for the military during the conflict, while the remaining 18,000 served as London’s first line in defence.

Some 360 officers were killed in action while 337 medals, including The Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.), the Military Cross (M.C.) and the Distinguished Conduct Medal (D.C.M) were awarded to Met officers for their gallantry.

We will remember them.
