Trentham and Hanford Newsletter - Day of Action - what happened on the day, School Parking update, Neighbourhood Watch update, Police Street Surgeries and upcoming events

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope you are all are having a good week.

It’s been a very busy but productive few days for myself, and I have lots to update you all on.

My approach to Neighbourhood Policing is to ensure that your voice is heard and that you take the centre stage is helping to shape where the team patrols and what issues we address.

To achieve this, community engagement has been fundamental. At the time of sending this e-mail, 288 Police Street Surgeries have been completed in the Trentham and Hanford area so far, and I’ve had a large number of conversations with residents, visitors, businesses, schools and partnership agencies.

These regular interactions have helped me greatly, in understanding what matters to you.

On Wednesday 4th November 2026 a Day of Action took place in the Trentham and Hanford area. In organising, the feedback from you, the issues and concerns raised, was the foundation for the day.

Firstly, I wanted to send a very big thank you to everyone who came along, the many kind words we had – We really appreciated it.

What happened on the day

The mobile Police station was present on the Man In Space car park from 10:30am – 14:00. It was great to say hello to residents and thank you to everyone at the Man In Space for letting us utilise the car park.

On 26/09/26 I was present at a very well attended Road Safety public meeting, which was held at the Trentham Community Library, Allerton Rd.

The meeting was centered around Boma Road and surrounding streets, with many residents sharing their concerns regarding vehicles not adhering to the ‘Except for Access’ signs, speeding and dangerous parking.

In this first phase, we took an approach in raising the awareness of the ‘Except for Access’ signs and what they mean.

In order to address the concerns that residents have reported, it’s important that we share and spread to word on the restrictions in place, as far and as wide as possible.

I want to ensure that everyone is aware of the signs and what they mean.

What do the signs mean?

When travelling through in a vehicle….

*Only those residing in the street or visiting a property on that street (to make a delivery for example) are permitted to have access.

*The road is not be used as a short cut

There are ‘Except for Access’ signs on Boma Rd, Parkwood Ave, Allerton Rd and Margaret Ave.

During the Day of Action, myself, PC Sheldon and PC Johnson attended both Allerton Rd and Boma Rd, where a total of 62 vehicles were stopped and drivers spoken to.

Alongside the concerns re the signs, drivers were made aware of the issues re speeding and parking.

Neighbourhood Officers, including from our Road Crime Team, attended a number of locations where residents had raised concerns regarding Speeding.

Some of these locations included Barlaston Old Rd, The A34, Meadow Ln and Trentley Rd.

The results…

2 motorists were prosecuted for speeding on Barlaston Old Road.

1 motorist was prosecuted for vehicle defects on Brough Lane.

3 motorists were prosecuted for vehicle defects on A34 Stone Road.

1 motorist was prosecuted on Church Lane for driving whilst using a mobile phone.

1 motorist was prosecuted for vehicle defects on A34 Newcastle Road.

There were other motorists stopped and spoken to/ advised over speeding, manner of driving and conditions of vehicles.

A drug drive test was conducted.

I am now in the early stages of planning Trentham and Hanford Day of Action 2.

Please continue to spread the word about these e-mails, come along to street surgeries, stop me on patrol etc and lets continue to work to KEEP TRENTHAM AND HANFORD SAFER TOGETHER.

Neighbourhood Watch update

This week I have delivered 170 Neighbourhood Watch Welcome Letters on the newly created zone for the Waterside Estate.

I am hoping to deliver to the remaining addresses on the estate over the next couple of days.

School parking update

I have spoke with management at the Man In Space and they are more than happy for their car park to be used to collect children from school.

There is a parking camera in place, so all you need to do is ensure that at the time of attending, that you put your registration details into the IPAD that is situated just inside the pub as you enter through the buildings main entrance.

All we would ask is that parking does not take place well in advance of the school day ending, to help ensure there is plenty of room for customer parking.
