Dear Resident
Your local Safer Neighbourhood Team will be at the Oakridge Baptist Church Hall at Oakridge Road, High Wycombe on 17th November 2026 between 11:00 to 14:00hrs.
As the local Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant for Oakridge, I am keen to bring together key community partners, organisations, businesses and residents to explore how we can collectively improve the area and address some of the challenges face by those who live and work, and visit here.
Recent reports have highlighted Oakridge as one of the most deprived areas in Buckinghamshire. However, Oakridge is also a vibrant and diverse community, made up of local businesses, students, homeowners, Housing Association tenants, HMO's, and private rental properties. As a key route into High Wycombe town centre, the area experiences significant levels of vehicle and pedestrian traffic, which can contribute to a range of challenges.
Some of the issues most frequently raised by residents and partners include: Over the past year, initiatives such as the Castlefield Coalition and groups including Reclaim Castlefield have demonstrated what can be achieved when communities, partner agencies, and local organisations work together towards common goals. The success of these projects has highlighted the potential benefits of adopting a similar approach within Oakridge.
To begin that conversation, the Oakridge Baptist Church has kindly agreed to host a community meeting. The intention is to hold an informal “Have your Say” event bringing together local stake holders to discuss concerns, identify opportunities for improvement, share ideas, and develop both short-term actions and longer-term ambitions for the area. We will aslo explore whether there is support for establishing an Oakridge Community Coalition or partnership to help coordinate future activity.
I would be delighted if you were able to join us for an informal meet-and-greet and discussion. Your knowledge and experience within the community would be invaluable in helping shape a positive future for Oakridge.
Working together, I am confident that we can identify practical solutions, strengthen community ties, and make a real difference to the people who call Oakridge home.
The Oakridge Baptist Church will be supplying refreshments so please pop in for a cup of tea and have your say.
Please take this opportunity to raise any concerns you may have and to find out what we are doing to tackle the issues that matter to you.
Everyone is welcome and it would be great to see you there. For more information please contact me - PS 3675 Walsh at darren.walsh@thamesvalley.police.uk
