Local Priorities Burglary - Other (Shed / Garage Break-ins) Update

Local Priorities Burglary - Other (Shed / Garage Break-ins) Update

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Burglary - Other (Shed / Garage Break-ins), which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

At around 9pm on the night of Tuesday 3rd November 2026 two persons were seen trying to gain entry to a garage on Townsend Rd, Swanage. Both persons were wearing black and had their faces covered.
They were disturbed and ran off towards Queens Rd.
Nothing was taken and the garage was not entered.

With the days getting longer and darkness arriving earlier and earlier please take a moment to review your security arrangements. Ensuring that shed, garages, vehicles etc are properly secured and consider the use of CCTV or doorbell cameras, motion sensor lighting to alert you to any movement and remember to lock your sheds and garages and not leave them unlocked, especially overnight. If you have any valuables such a tools, machinery, bicycles etc consider property marking them with a UV pen or take a photograph of them and note the description or any serial number so it can be identified if stolen.

Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team can advise you on this.

Thank you.
