I wanted to provide you with an update regarding ASB, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. We would like to wish everyone across Caerphilly Central a very happy, enjoyable and, most importantly, SAFE Bonfire Night! π₯π
Whether youβre attending an organised display or celebrating at home, please take a few moments to think about your safety and the safety of those around you.
β οΈ FIREWORK SAFETY - Always follow the instructions on fireworks and use them responsibly. - Only adults (18+) should buy or handle fireworks. - Never allow children to play with or light fireworks. - Keep fireworks away from people, buildings, vehicles and animals. - Never return to a firework once it has been lit, even if it hasnβt gone off. - Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby in case of an emergency. - Never throw fireworks or put them in your pockets.
π₯ BONFIRE SAFETY - Only light bonfires in a safe, suitable and open area, well away from buildings, fences, trees and overhead cables. - Never use petrol or other flammable liquids to start or accelerate a fire. - Never leave a bonfire unattended. - Keep children and pets at a safe distance. - Make sure the fire is completely extinguished before leaving it. - Never burn household rubbish, aerosols or hazardous materials.
π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ A MESSAGE TO PARENTS AND GUARDIANS We would also ask all parents and guardians to please take a few minutes to speak with their children about the dangers of fireworks, fire-setting and playing with fire.
Following a few reports of incidents in the local area, it is particularly important that young people understand just how dangerous and potentially life-changing these actions can be.
Please remind children that: - Fireworks are not toys and can cause devastating injuries. - Setting fires in public spaces, bins, fields or near properties can quickly get out of control. - Playing with matches, lighters or other ignition sources can put lives and property at risk. - They should never approach or interfere with a fire or suspicious items and should report concerns to a responsible adult. - We all have a part to play in keeping our community safe. A few minutes of guidance and a little extra awareness can make a huge difference.
Letβs look after one another, respect our neighbourhoods and make sure everyone can enjoy Bonfire Night without unnecessary incidents.
Have a fantastic, fun and safe Bonfire Night, Caerphilly Central! π
Stay safe and look out for each other. β€οΈ
Tackling antisocial behaviour can be a complex issue, and one which requires input and action from more than just the police. The Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 aims to put victims first, giving power to local people and enabling professionals to find the best solutions for their local area. The act provides the police, local authorities and other local agencies with flexible tools and powers that they can use to respond quickly and effectively to antisocial behaviour. These include: - civil injunctions.
- criminal behaviour orders.
- public spaces protection orders.
- community protection notices.
- dispersal powers.
- closure powers.
The act also includes measures such as the Community Remedy and antisocial behaviour case reviews which empower victims and communities to have a say in the outcome of their reports and hold agencies to account. If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.gwent.police.uk, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
