Operation Gallop group added

We have added a new interest group for Operation Gallop - you can join by amending within your Community interest groups.

Operation Gallop launched in May 2024 within Northern Ireland with its aim being, ‘Police and partners working together towards better outcomes for horses and the equestrian community in Northern Ireland.’

There are five key pillars –

Engagement – aim to increase confidence in policing and encourage the equestrian community to engage with Police on issues that are concerning for them.

Prevention of Equine related crime – Crime in this area is believed to be under-reported.

Equine welfare – work with our partners in the local councils and DAERA to address equine welfare issues.

Road Safety - The Police Service of Northern Ireland is working with the British Horse Society under the banner of Operation Gallop to raise awareness among road users of how to use our roads safely as both horse riders and motorists.

Safeguarding –  This proposed expansion of Operation Gallop is being developed in order to raise awareness and consequently encourage victims and potential witnesses to have the confidence to speak to police with an underlying message that – we are here to listen, to help and to keep you safe.
