Dear Resident,
Between 04/11/2026 18:15 to 04/11/2026 18:52 a burglary took place at THORNBURY GARDENS, BOREHAMWOOD
Victim reported a residential burglary whereby unknown offenders gained access to the rear garden of the address before climbing onto a flat roof at the rear of the property. Enquiries established that the suspects forced entry by damaging the hinges of a window to a bedroom before entering the dwelling. Once inside, the offenders conducted an untidy search of the property. The search was focused predominantly on the victim's bedroom, where a concealed safe was located and subsequently stolen. Two offenders have exited out of the front window of the lounge.

Tips to prevent burglary:
Check downstairs windows and doors are securely locked before you leave or go to bed. Secure UPVC doors by lifting the handle and locking it to engage the security features. Don’t leave keys, phones or other valuables on windowsills or in any other visible place. Securely lock rear gates, sheds and garages. Keep tools and ladders locked away, as they could be used to break into your home. Use laminate glass where possible for any rear doors or windows. If this is not practicable, consider the use of security film over existing windows. Use a “Fake TV” or timer switches on lamps to give the impression someone is at home. Consider using a doorbell camera, interior camera, or a monitored burglar alarm. Consider adding trellis to any side or rear boundaries to add extra height up to a maximum of 2 metres.
Please be vigilant and do report any suspicious activity or behaviour in the area. If you need to report a crime please call 101 or go online here.
