Positive Action in St John's Churchyard E9

Positive Action in St John's Churchyard E9

Here’s a quick update on drugs dealing crime in your area, please be reassured that we’re taking this seriously and are here to help.

We are pleased to share some positive news regarding our ongoing work to tackle drug-related anti-social behaviour in St John's Churchyard E9

Yesterday, while travelling into work, Inspector Mo Uddin observed a male who was believed to be involved in drug supply activity within the churchyard. Inspector Uddin promptly informed officers from the Homerton Cluster Neighbourhood Team, who attended the location and, with his assistance, detained and arrested the suspect.

Following the arrest, officers recovered a substantial quantity of Class A drugs. The individual has since been charged and remanded to court for Possession with Intent to Supply Class A Drugs and will be appearing before the court in due course.

This arrest is a direct result of the continued proactive work being carried out by the Safer Neighbourhood Teams and their partners to address drug-related crime and anti-social behaviour in the area.

We remain committed to making St John's Churchyard a safe and welcoming space for residents, businesses, and visitors, and we will continue to take robust action against those involved in criminality.

Drug dealing is often linked with violent crime and the exploitation of vulnerable people, and discarded drug equipment can be a health risk and counts as antisocial behaviour.

We’ve put hundreds more officers on the frontlines of community crime-fighting teams, upping visible patrols in the right ‘hot spots’ so we can deter and catch criminals.

We are committed to tackling drug dealing wherever we find it. It forms a key part of our recently published ASB Action Plan. We will keep you updated on our efforts to do this in your area, but if you have any concerns or evidence, it is important you report this as soon as possible.

If you have experienced drug dealing in your area, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.met.police.uk or call the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org

We want your help to shape the future of policing across London.
