We made four arrests and seized nine vehicles as officers targeted people who use e-bikes and e-scooters illegally and antisocially in #Elmbridge on Sunday.
This included an illegally modified pedal bike which, as you can see in our video here, did not want to stop for our officers. Led by a police motorcyclist, our officers pursued the rider and unfortunately for him but fortunately for the people of Elmbridge, this dangerous and antisocial bike no longer belongs to this reckless rider!
Sgt Nick Reynolds, from Elmbridge Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "We know that the criminal and antisocial use of e-bikes is causing concern within our local communities. This operation is about responding directly to those concerns and taking visible action against the people responsible.
"E-bikes can be used legitimately, but when they are used by criminals to commit offences, evade police or behave dangerously and antisocially, we will take action. Our message is simple: we will not tolerate crime being committed using e-bikes in our communities.
"We will continue to target those responsible, disrupt their criminal activity and, where appropriate, seize and destroy vehicles being used unlawfully"
Please continue to report dangerous and antisocial e-bike riding to us on our website here. |
