Church Burglary Appeal We are appealing for information following a burglary and criminal damage at a local church over the weekend. 01/11 - 02/11 During the past week, members of the church reported increasing incidents of anti-social behaviour within the building, including food being thrown around and drinks being sprayed inside. Unfortunately, this escalated on Saturday when person(s) forced entry into the vestry and gained access to the church loft. A quantity of wine, prosecco and communion wine was stolen. Significant damage and disruption were also caused inside the church, including fire extinguishers being discharged and communion wafers being removed and stamped into the floor. Footprints were also found near the high altar. This has understandably been very upsetting for those who use and care for the church, which is an important part of our community. As a result, the church will remain locked outside of services until further advice can be provided. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen people acting suspiciously around the church during the week, especially from Wednesday onwards, or who may have information about those responsible. If you have any information, CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage that could assist, please contact Thames Valley Police via 101 or online quoting the relevant crime reference number 43260572872 Let's work together to protect the places and spaces that mean so much to our community. As your local neighbourhood policing team, we know how important the church is to many residents. We are grateful for any information that may help identify those responsible and prevent further incidents. PCSO Helen Keen | ||
