Illegal Surron Bikes Seized in Falmouth |
||
|
Officers from the Falmouth and Helston Neighbourhood Team have recently seized three illegal Surron-style electric bikes in the local area. Surron and similar high-powered electric bikes are becoming increasingly popular, but many riders are unaware that they are not automatically legal to ride on roads, pavements, cycle paths or in public spaces. To be used legally on a public road, a Surron-style bike must: ✅ Be registered with the DVLA Many Surron bikes do not meet these requirements and are therefore classed as illegal motor vehicles when ridden on public roads or in public places. They can only be used lawfully on private land with the permission of the landowner. The illegal use of these bikes can cause significant concern within our communities and poses a risk to pedestrians, other road users and the riders themselves. The Falmouth and Helston Neighbourhood Team will continue to take robust action against the illegal use of Surron bikes, off-road motorcycles and other nuisance vehicles. Riders found committing offences may have their vehicle seized and could face prosecution, fines, penalty points and driving disqualification. 📱 Help us identify offenders If you witness the illegal use of a Surron bike or other nuisance vehicle, please report it via the Devon & Cornwall Police website: 🔗 Report antisocial behaviour: 🔗 Report a crime or provide information: Every report helps us build intelligence, identify repeat offenders and direct patrols to where they are needed most. #Falmouth #Helston #NeighbourhoodPolicing #OperationMachinize #RoadSafety #CornwallPolice #ReportIt #KeepingCommunitiesSafe #SurronBike #RoadTrafficAct
