Proactive Patrols and Crime Prevention Advice in White Moss & Blackley |
||
|
Following a series of four residential burglaries that occurred on the same night in the White Moss and Blackley area, I have been carrying out proactive patrols and speaking with local residents to provide reassurance and crime prevention advice. These offences were linked by a similar method of entry, with offenders accessing properties from the rear via adjacent fields before forcing entry by snapping rear door locks. As part of our engagement with the community, I have distributed crime prevention leaflets and spoken with residents about steps they can take to better protect their homes, including:
🔐 Upgrade euro-cylinder locks to anti-snap locks with a TS007 3-star rating or Sold Secure Diamond standard. These locks are designed to help prevent lock-snapping attacks.
🚪 Remember to Lift, Lock and Remove. Simply closing a uPVC or multi-locking door is not enough. Lift the handle, lock the door fully and remove the key every time you leave your property.
🏡 Secure rear gardens by ensuring gates, fences and side access points are locked and well maintained.
💡 Consider additional security measures such as door alarms, security lighting, CCTV and sash jammers on vulnerable doors.
👀 If you see anything suspicious, try to note descriptions, locations, times and any vehicle details. Report suspicious activity via GMP LiveChat or by calling 101. If a crime is taking place, a suspect is on scene, or someone is in immediate danger, always call 999. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to speak with me during these patrols. Your vigilance and support play a vital role in helping us keep our communities safe. PC Connor
