Glossop SNT - Local Priorities ‘Speeding Traffic Update’
The Hadfield Community Speed Watch Volunteer Team completed an event on Padfield Main Rd, Padfield this afternoon (Tuesday 3rd November) - held between 2 pm and 3 pm. The speed limit on this stretch of road is 40mph.
A total 108 vehicles went by the team during the event this afternoon - with only 1 of those vehicles being recorded as speeding above 46 mph. with the actual speed recorded at 65 mph.
This location had been identified by the communities from the Hadfield/Padfield and Tintwistle Ward, as a place where speeding occurrs and as one of their chosen Policing Priorites for the area.
Whenever Derbyshire Police have asked local residents the issues that cause the most concern, speeding is consistently highlighted as a priority. It’s clear that speeding remains a real issue for many communities with ongoing requests for Police and partner organisations to take positive action. So we'd like to remind our communities about and encourage the community to use our ‘Community Voice Surveys. These help the Police to find out and identify what the issues are that affect our local communities the most - they also help to identify more ways that we, the Police and our partners. can then support the community with their issues.
You can fill it out online here, www.derbyshirealert.co.uk Glossop SNT would like to thank the 4 volunteers who gave up their free time in Padfield today. And also to those residents, from the local area, who took the time to stop and say thank you to them too. Our volunteers efforts, by being visable, are assisting to make our roads a bit safer, including helping to reduce speeding in our local communitiies. The Casualty Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST) has now changed their name to the Derbyshire Safer Roads Team. Their work is and has been instrumental in supporting the Forces aim to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on Derbyshire’s roads. Within the past few years, the department has grown from strength to strength (Community Speed Watch is a part).
