You raised shoplifting as a concern, so here’s a quick local update. 🛍️ Fulham Road — Shoplifting & Business Crime - Targeted patrols along Fulham Road & New Kings Road have been ongoing. In June 2026 alone, arrests were made in response to shoplifting and commercial burglary concerns. - Follow-up enforcement brought two men charged and successfully prosecuted in separate burglary investigations affecting local businesses. - Response times to business alarm activations along Fulham Road remain within the 15-minute target, and we maintain regular visible visits to affected shopfronts. - We're working with the council's Business Crime Reduction Partnership and ShopWatch to improve reporting and prevention across the area . 🚲 Cargo Bike & Cycle Theft - Reports of cargo bike thefts have risen across the Fulham Town area. We've responded with increased high-visibility patrols at known hotspots — including around Fulham Road, Burlington Road, and residential streets where delivery bikes are regularly parked . - Officers have been visiting local residents and businesses to share security advice, and we're working directly with delivery operators to improve locking and parking standards . - Quick security reminder: Use two high-quality locks (D-lock + secondary chain/lock), secure to fixed points, and register bikes free at BikeRegister.com — it significantly increases recovery chances . 🚗 Motor Vehicle Crime — Residential Streets - Our dedicated patrol plan for vehicle crime on residential streets is delivering results: targeted patrols across streets including Burlington Road and surrounding roads have been ongoing, alongside crime prevention doorstep visits . - Borough-wide, theft from motor vehicles is down 14% (Apr–Oct 2025 vs prior year) — a reduction of 95 fewer incidents — though we know some streets remain affected and patrols continue to be prioritised there . - Key advice: Remove all items from view, keep keys away from windows/doors, and consider signal-blocking pouches to prevent relay theft . 🤝 How You Can Help - Report suspicious activity or non-emergency issues: met.police.uk/report or call 101 - Emergency: 999 - Join conversations and set local priorities via Met Engage — your feedback directly shapes where we focus our patrols - Speak to us when you see us out — your local knowledge is our best intelligence! The Met is cracking down on street crime, like shoplifting, people doing drugs and phone-snatching. We’ve put hundreds more officers on the frontlines of community crime-fighting teams, upping visible patrols in the right ‘hot spots’ so we can deter and catch criminals. We’re now arresting more than 1,000 extra criminals every month and seeing ‘neighbourhood crime’ down 14%. But we know there is more to do. That’s why we’re stepping up our use of technology, increasing our operations and working with retailers to make it less appealing for criminals to commit these crimes in the first place. If you notice anything suspicious or witness anyone shoplifting, please report it as soon as possible. These reports are invaluable in letting us build a picture of when and where shop lifters operate, meaning we can be in the right place at the right time to arrest those responsible. For more guidance, see our page on how to spot a shoplifter. We want your help to shape the future of policing across London. We are seeking your views on our new inclusion strategy to ensure that the Met is a police service that is trusted, representative and more effective at keeping London safe. You can have your say on our Inclusion Strategy consultation which runs until Thursday 26 November. |
