Rogue Traders Warning – Reports of Roofers Operating in the Area Kent Police have received reports of suspected rogue traders, particularly individuals offering roofing work, operating in the local area. These traders often go door-to-door claiming that urgent repairs are needed to roofs, gutters, chimneys, or driveways. They may offer to carry out work immediately, often requesting large sums of money in advance or demanding payment for poor-quality or unnecessary work. Please take the following precautions: • Be wary of anyone who cold-calls at your home offering building or roofing work. • Do not feel pressured into making an immediate decision. Genuine traders will allow you time to consider any quote. • Obtain at least three written quotes from reputable companies before agreeing to work. • Ask for identification, company details, and references, and check online reviews where possible. • Never pay cash upfront and avoid paying the full amount before work has been completed satisfactorily. • If you need work carried out, use traders who come recommended by family, friends, or recognised trade schemes. • Look out for elderly or vulnerable neighbours who may be targeted by rogue traders. If you feel threatened, pressured, or believe a crime is taking place, call 999. If you have concerns about suspicious traders in the area, report them to Kent Police via 101 or online at www.kent.police.uk. Please help us protect our community by sharing this message with family, friends, and neighbours.
Kind regards Phil and Jack
