Here’s what your Safer Neighbourhood Team has been up to this week
Goodbye PC Chambers 2590CN
For the past three years, PC Chambers has proudly served on the Gospel Oak Neighbourhood Policing Team. Yesterday marked his final day as a police officer as he leaves the Metropolitan Police Service to embark on a new career path that is close to his heart. Having had the privilege of working alongside Ivan throughout his policing journey, I have no doubt that he will bring the same dedication, professionalism and passion to his new role and be a great success in this next chapter of his life.
PC Chambers will be sorely missed, not only by his colleagues but also by the residents, businesses and visitors of Gospel Oak. Throughout his time on the team, he has consistently demonstrated dedication, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to the community he served. He is undoubtedly one of the hardest-working officers I have had the privilege to work alongside, always willing to go the extra mile to support both his colleagues and the public. His positive attitude, strong work ethic and approachable manner have made a lasting impact on those who have had the opportunity to work with him and those he has served.
What makes this farewell particularly special and difficult for me, is that I had the privilege of training PC Chambers from his very first day at the police training academy. From those early days as a recruit through to the experienced and outstanding officer he has become, I have had the opportunity to watch him grow, develop and thrive throughout every stage of his policing career. Few people in policing can say they have witnessed someone's journey from start to finish and it has been an absolute privilege to do so. Seeing the dedication, professionalism and compassion he has brought to the role over the years has made me immensely proud.
Although based on Gospel Oak, PC Chambers was always willing to support neighbouring wards whenever needed, particularly Belsize. He regularly joined forces with PC Iqbal and PC Thompson, working tirelessly to tackle local issues, engage with residents and help keep the community safe. His commitment to neighbourhood policing extended beyond the boundaries of his own ward and his willingness to support colleagues and communities alike was a testament to his professionalism, team spirit and dedication to public service.
Over the past year alone, his commitment to the people of Gospel Oak and Belsize can be seen through the work he has delivered:
Arrests: 7 Assisted arrests: 12 Voluntary Interviews: 6 Stop and Searches: 10 Investigations Completed: 68
These figures only tell part of the story. Behind every arrest, investigation and engagement was a dedicated officer who genuinely cared about the community he served and he always gave 100%.
PC Chambers 2590CN, thank you for your service, dedication and unwavering commitment to the communities you have served. Your duty is now done and you leave with the respect and appreciation of your colleagues and the many people whose lives you have positively impacted throughout your policing career. Enjoy returning to civilian life, embrace the opportunities ahead and know that you will always be remembered as an outstanding officer and valued member of the team. From all of us, we wish you every success, happiness and fulfilment in the future.
All the best
