Keeping Your Home Secure - Crime prevention advice |

Dear Colindale Residents,
As the evenings become darker earlier, we would like to remind everyone to take a few simple steps to help keep their homes secure and reduce the risk of burglary. Crime Prevention Advice🔒 Always lock all doors and windows, even when leaving home for a short period. 💡 Use timer switches on lights to give the impression that someone is at home when the property is unoccupied. 🔑 Keep keys, handbags, wallets and vehicle keys out of sight and away from doors, windows and letterboxes. 📦 Avoid leaving packaging for expensive items visible outside your property, as this can attract unwanted attention. 🚪 Ensure communal entrances, side gates, sheds and garages are kept secure and not left open. 🚗 Remove valuables from vehicles and ensure vehicles are locked at all times. 🌳 Trim hedges and shrubs where possible to remove hiding places and improve natural surveillance around your property. 📹 Consider installing or maintaining CCTV, video doorbells or external lighting where appropriate. 👀 Be alert to suspicious activity, such as unknown individuals looking into vehicles or properties, or unfamiliar vehicles repeatedly visiting residential streets. 🤝 Look out for your neighbours and report anything suspicious. A vigilant community is one of the best crime prevention tools. Reporting Suspicious ActivityIf you witness suspicious behaviour or have concerns about crime in your area, please report it via 101 or online at www.met.police.uk. In an emergency, always call 999. Our local Safer Neighbourhood Team will continue to carry out patrols and engage with residents across Colindale to help keep our community safe. Thank you for your continued support.
