Burglar Identified by Police - How can you protect your property? |

Good evening everyone, It's that time of year again. The nights are drawing in, Halloween is upon us, Christmas decorations are already appearing in the shops, and unfortunately opportunist thieves will be looking to take advantage of the darker evenings.
On a positive note, we have recently identified a suspect responsible for stealing items from a resident's property, thanks to some well-positioned, high-quality CCTV. Identifying suspects for offences such as these can often help us link them to other crimes and build a broader picture of their offending.
Many theft offences occur simply because an opportunity presents itself. Criminals will often look for the easiest option and follow the path of least resistance. By taking a few simple precautions, we can make our homes and possessions far less attractive to those looking to steal.
A few practical steps you can take include: If you're heading out for the evening, leave a light or radio on to make your home appear occupied.
Importantly, if you see anything suspicious in your neighbourhood, please report it. Information from residents is often the key to identifying offenders and preventing further crime.
Let's work together to remove the opportunities criminals rely on and keep Westcotes a safe place to live.
