Remember, Remember..... Fireworks & Bonfire night |

Dear Resident,
🎆 REMEMBER, REMEMBER... BONFIRE NIGHT IS NEARLY HERE! 🎆
It's nearly THAT time of year again, and we've already seen and heard a number of fireworks being set off after dark!
With Bonfire Night fast approaching, here's a reminder of some of the laws surrounding the purchase, possession and use of fireworks.
🎇 1. Age restrictions You must be 18 or over to purchase adult fireworks (categories F2 and F3). It is also an offence for anyone under 18 to possess these fireworks in a public place. Maximum penalty of £5000 and/or six months in prison.
🎇 2. Where can fireworks be used? It is illegal to set off or throw fireworks, including sparklers, in streets, roads or other public places. Fireworks should only be used on private property, such as your own garden, or on other private land with the landowner's permission, unless part of an authorised professional display.
🎇 3. What times can fireworks be used? Fireworks can be used throughout the year, but there are restrictions on the times they can be set off. ⏰ 5th November (Bonfire Night): 7am – Midnight ⏰ New Year's Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year: 7am – 1am the following morning ⏰ All other days: 7am – 11pm
🎇 4. What happens if you break the law? It is illegal to let off a firework in a public place and carries a fine of up to £5000 or a £90 Fixed Penalty Notice. Depending on the offence, penalties can include up to six months' imprisonment.
❤️ And finally, please be considerate of others! Although there is no legal requirement to notify your neighbours before having a private fireworks display, giving them a little advance warning is a simple courtesy that can make a big difference.
Please remember that while fireworks are enjoyable for many, they can be extremely distressing for others, particularly young children, elderly or vulnerable residents, people sensitive to loud noises, pets and livestock.
A little consideration allows neighbours to make arrangements for themselves and their animals ahead of time.
If you're planning your own display, please follow the Firework Code, supervise children around sparklers and always put safety first.
Let's all enjoy Bonfire Night safely, responsibly and with consideration for those around us. 🎆
Thank you for reading, and enjoy the displays! 😊
