We would like to remind residents to take a few simple precautions to help reduce the risk of becoming a victim of vehicle crime.

Always ensure your vehicle is locked, even if it is parked on your driveway.

Remove all valuables from your vehicle, including bags, wallets, mobile phones, sat navs and loose change. If items must be left inside, keep them out of sight.

Do not leave vehicle keys near doors, windows or letterboxes where they can be targeted by opportunist thieves.

Consider using a steering wheel lock or additional security device as a visible deterrent.

Ensure any in-car security systems and alarms are activated.

If your vehicle has keyless entry, consider using a Faraday pouch to prevent signal theft.

Park in a well-lit area where possible and make use of CCTV or video doorbells if available.

Check your vehicle is secure before leaving it, as accidental unlocking can occur.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour, unknown persons trying vehicle door handles, or anyone acting suspiciously around parked vehicles by calling 101, or 999 if a crime is in progress.
