People selling vehicles are advised to remain vigilant after potential car selling scams were reported in Southwold and Oulton in attempts to reduce the purchase price.
On Saturday 24 October at approximately 5.10pm – 5.15pm, unknown males attended a location in Red House Close Oulton to purchase a car. At some point they poured oil over the engine causing damage, before they left. (Crime ref: 37/62853/26)
At approximately 6pm on the same day, Saturday 24 October, 2 male suspects arrived to view a car in Pier Avenue in Southwold. The men tampered with electrical components and sprayed oil on the engine, causing the warning light to come on. (Crime ref: 37/63272/26)
Potential sellers of vehicles are asked to be mindful of who they invite to view their vehicles and monitor their actions at all times. They are also advised to retain all vehicle documentation such as log books/V5s prior to the transaction being completed.
