Dear Residents,
As Halloween approaches on 31st October, we would like to take this opportunity in giving some advice on how to stay safe.
Halloween should be an enjoyable evening for everyone, where some residents may look forward to welcoming trick-or-treaters, others may prefer a quieter night in.
If you are ‘trick or treating with family or friends; please remember ✅️Young children should always be accompanied by an adult and for Older children, set a time for them to trick or treat and plan a route so you know where they will be. ✅️Stay in small groups ✅️Take a torch, illuminate part of your costume and stick to well-lit routes in familiar neighbourhoods. ✅️Keep mobile phones charged ⚠️Be aware of your surroundings and report anything that doesn't feel rightcalling 101 or 999 in an emergency ⚠️Teach your children never to enter a strangers home or car ⚠️If a ‘no trick or treat’ sign OR no Halloween decorations are displayed at homes, please do not knock, respect it and move on to the next house. 🚫 Don't throw eggs, flour or cause damage ⚠️Inspect all candy before eating - discard any unwrapped/suspicious items and be mindful of potential allergens
If you are at home 🏡
✅️ Be vigilant when answering the door to unexpected callers ✅️ Keep your home secure ✅️ Check who is at your door using the spyhole or video doorbell ✅️ You are under no obligation to answer the door if you do not want to. ✅️ Report an anti social behaviour to police on 101 or dial 999 in an emergency
Officers across all wards in Ealing will be out on Halloween patrol and will deal with any ASB as part of our Autumn Nights campaign.
We hope you all have a safe, and Happy Halloween 👻
