🚗 Keyless Vehicle Theft Warning 🚗

🚗 Keyless Vehicle Theft Warning 🚗

We have recently received reports of four thefts of motor vehicles in the area, with offenders believed to be targeting vehicles fitted with keyless entry and keyless start systems.

Thieves can use electronic devices to capture and relay the signal from vehicle keys inside your home, allowing them to unlock and steal vehicles without needing to physically access the keys.

Help protect your vehicle by following these crime prevention measures:

Keep vehicle keys away from doors, windows and external walls.

Store keys in a Faraday pouch or signal-blocking container

Consider using additional security such as steering wheel locks, immobilisers or tracking devices.

Ensure your vehicle is locked and secure, even when parked on your driveway.

Remove valuables from your vehicle and ensure any security updates recommended by the manufacturer are installed.

If possible, park in a garage or well-lit area.

👀 Please remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour around parked vehicles, particularly individuals loitering near driveways or parked card during the evening and early hours.

Anyone with information relating to vehicle crime in their area can report it online via the West Yorkshire Police website or by calling 101. Always call 999 if a crime is in progress.

Together, we can help reduce vehicle crime and keep our communities safe.
