Increase in theft from motor vehicles |

Dear Resident, We would like to make you aware of an increase in reports of valuables being stolen from unattended vehicles within our local area.
In many cases, opportunist thieves are targeting vehicles where items such as handbags, wallets, mobile phones, laptops, tools, sat navs, shopping bags, and loose change have been left visible inside. Even items that may appear to have little value can tempt offenders to break into a vehicle.
We are asking all residents to remain vigilant and take simple steps to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime. Crime Prevention AdviceRemove all valuables Keep items out of sight Lock and secure your vehicle Protect your keys Park wisely Remove evidence of valuables Report Suspicious ActivityIf you see anyone acting suspiciously around parked vehicles, please report it to the police. Information from the community can help identify offenders and prevent further offences. If a crime is taking place, or there is an immediate threat to life or property, call 999. For non-emergency reports, contact the police via 101 or through the force website.
By taking a few simple precautions, we can work together to reduce opportunities for crime and help keep our community safe. Thank you for your support and vigilance.
Yours faithfully, PCSO Alistair Baker
