I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Fraud, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. π¨ Fraud Alert - Beware of Mobile Phone & Tablet Scams π¨
We have received recent reports of fraud involving individuals claiming to represent a company branded "SKY PROMOTIONS."
Members of the public are being contacted and offered what appear to be free mobile phones, tablets, or other electronic devices. The callers then request a deposit payment, claiming the items need to be ordered through a separate retailer.
Once bank details or payment information have been provided, victims report that money has been taken from their accounts without authorisation.
β οΈ Remember: If an offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Fraud Prevention Advice:
β
Be cautious of unsolicited calls, messages, emails, or social media contacts offering free gifts or heavily discounted products.
β
Never provide your bank details, card information, passwords, or security codes to someone who contacts you unexpectedly.
β
Research the company independently before making any payments. Check for genuine reviews and verify contact details through official websites.
β
Be wary of requests for upfront deposits or administration fees in exchange for "free" products or prizes.
β
Never feel pressured into making an immediate decision. Genuine businesses will give you time to consider an offer.
β
If you receive a suspicious call, hang up and contact the company directly using contact details you have sourced yourself.
β
Regularly monitor your bank account for any unauthorised transactions and report any concerns immediately to your bank.
