Violence against women and girls update

Violence against women and girls update

I wanted to provide an update regarding violence against women and girls, which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

As part of our commitment to the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Strategy, we recognise the vital role that local communities play in helping us identify concerns and improve safety for women and girls. Understanding the experiences, perceptions, and concerns of those who live, work, and travel in our communities helps us better target resources, address local issues, and develop effective solutions.

In recent years, we have seen growing trust and engagement between women and girls and the police. Increased reporting and continued partnership working demonstrate our shared commitment to preventing and reducing violence against women and girls.

To help us build on this progress, we are inviting members of the public to complete a short online survey. Your feedback will provide valuable insight into local concerns, help us understand where further action is needed, and ensure our efforts are focused on the issues that matter most to our communities.

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and share your views. Together, we can help make our communities safer for everyone

We take violence against women and girls incredibly seriously and will do everything in our power to ensure those who commit these crimes see justice. Please visit our website for the latest advice and guidance. If you have been the victim or have witnessed a crime, it is very important that you report this as early as possible. We also provide advice for everyone on how to keep one another safe.

We want your help to shape the future of policing across London. We are seeking your views on our new inclusion strategy to ensure that the Met is a police service that is trusted, representative and more effective at keeping London safe. You can have your say on our Inclusion Strategy consultation which runs until Thursday 26 November.
