Staying Safe During the Current Weather Conditions

🌧️💨 Weather Safety Advice for Our Community 💨🌧️

With the recent wet, windy and unsettled weather, we would like to remind residents to take extra care when out and about.

🚗 Road Users

Slow down and allow extra stopping distance on wet and slippery roads.

Be alert for surface water and avoid driving through flooded areas where possible.

Ensure your headlights are switched on when visibility is poor.

🚶 Pedestrians

Take extra care on pavements and paths which may be slippery.

Wear bright or reflective clothing, especially during early mornings and evenings.

Avoid walking through flood water, as hazards may be hidden beneath the surface.

🚴 Cyclists and Motorcyclists

Reduce your speed and be mindful of strong winds.

Check that your lights are working and remain visible to other road users.

Be cautious when travelling over wet leaves, drain covers and road markings, which can become slippery.

🏠 At Home

Secure loose outdoor items such as garden furniture, bins and decorations.

Check on elderly or vulnerable neighbours who may need assistance.

Keep up to date with local weather forecasts and any warnings issued.

By taking a few simple precautions, we can all help keep ourselves, our families and our communities safe during adverse weather conditions.

Stay safe, stay aware, and look out for one another.
