COMMUNITY SAFETY ADVICE

🛒 Staying Safe When Buying or Selling Online

If you are buying or selling items through online marketplaces such as Facebook Marketplace, Gumtree, or similar platforms:

✅ Meet in a safe, public place whenever possible.
✅ Be cautious of buyers or sellers rushing the transaction.
✅ Avoid accepting screenshots as proof of payment. Always check funds have cleared in your account.
✅ If selling high-value items, consider taking a friend or family member with you.
✅ Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, walk away.

💷 Counterfeit Banknotes

Businesses and residents are advised to check cash carefully before accepting it.

🔍 Check:

The hologram changes between the words and numbers when tilted.

The raised print can be felt on genuine notes.

The see-through window is clear and well-defined.

The metallic images and security features appear genuine.

If you suspect you have been given a counterfeit note: ❌ Do not pass it on to somebody else. ✅ Note any description of the person involved if safe to do so. ✅ Contact the police via 101 or report online.
