☔️ Road Safety Reminder as Weather Conditions Deteriorate Today has been a busy day for officers across Ashford, carrying out regular policing duties whilst also responding to an increase in weather-related incidents. With the recent adverse weather affecting local roads, we'd like to remind all road users to take extra care when travelling. Before setting off, check the latest weather forecast and consider whether your journey is necessary. If you do need to travel, allow extra time, reduce your speed, increase your stopping distances and ensure your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition. The Met Office advises motorists to: ✅ Check weather forecasts and plan ahead ✅ Ensure tyres, lights, wipers and fluids are in good condition ✅ Carry a fully charged mobile phone and emergency supplies where possible ✅ Drive to the conditions, leaving greater distances between vehicles ✅ Be particularly cautious on rural roads, exposed routes and areas prone to flooding Remember, even familiar roads can quickly become hazardous during periods of heavy rain, strong winds or other severe weather. For full advice on driving safely in severe weather conditions, please visit the Met Office website: 🔗 Met Office Severe Weather Driving Advice ( https://weather.metoffice.gov.uk/warnings-and-advice/seasonal-advice/travel/driving-in-severe-weather ) Stay safe and help keep Ashford's roads moving safely for everyone.
