🚨 SMART ALERT: Burglary Prevention Advice 🚨

We are reminding residents to take simple steps to help protect their homes and property from burglary.

🏠 Secure Your Home

Always lock doors and windows, even when you are at home or only leaving for a short time.

Remove keys from locks and keep them out of sight and away from doors and windows.

Ensure sheds, garages and outbuildings are secured with strong locks.

💡 Make Your Home Look Occupied

Use timer switches on lights if you are away during the evening.

Avoid advertising holidays or absences on social media.

Ask a trusted neighbour to keep an eye on your property when you are away.

🔒 Protect Valuables

Keep valuables out of sight from windows.

Mark and register valuable property where possible.

Store vehicles securely and never leave keys near doors or windows.

📹 Security Measures

Consider installing CCTV, video doorbells or security lighting.

Ensure any alarms are activated when leaving your property.

👀 Stay Vigilant

Report suspicious activity, unknown callers acting suspiciously, or anyone attempting door handles in your area.

In an emergency or if a crime is in progress, call 999. For non-emergency concerns, contact 101.

Working together as a community helps keep our neighbourhoods safe.
