Hello Resident
This week, the Aston Neighbourhood Team has been involved in a number of initiatives in your local area to tackle crime and disorder!
The Aston Neighbourhood Team has partaken in a joint operation with the Home Office to tackle illegal immigration. The operation resulted in 10 arrests being made, and traffic enforcement opportunities one of which resulted in the seizure of a car, due to the driver having a provisional license and no insurance!
Proactive patrols have resulted in more stop searches, resulting in drugs being recovered and positive outcomes being issued where suspects have been found in possession of illicit substances. This patrol activity has been high visibility and taking place in both Aston and Newtown. We encourage you to notify us of locations where this activity is taking place to help direct our patrols where they are most needed.
Our police community support officer PCSO Mason has continued our primary school visits from last week at Mansfield Green Primary School, giving safety inputs to each year group covering a range of personal safety topics, and encouraging positive perceptions of police to encourage trust and confidence. It is important for young people to feel safe and to know who to contact in an emergency!
Our senior leadership have partaken in a joint agency meeting with the aim of exploring ways to reduce serious youth violence. The feedback from this meeting shall help inform intelligence and support officers to take positive action. Our schools intervention officers have been doing knife crime prevention inputs and knife arch operations within local high schools in the area to discourage possession of offensive weapons.
We continue to gather and submit intelligence reports, community reporting and engagement is invaluable to helping our team know what your concerns are, as always, if you wish to remain anonymous, please access crime stoppers by contacting 0800 555 111 or visiting Independent UK charity taking crime information anonymously | Crimestoppers
Patrols of our local parks have been conducted throughout the week in response to our problem management plan for parks in the local area. We continue to be present in Burbury Park, Yellow Park, Aston Park, St George's park just to name a few.
22/10/26 at 18:00 hours, we held our community meeting and were pleased to meet members of the community who feel so passionately about making Aston/Newtown a safer place. Please keep an eye out, as we shall advertise our next community meeting on WMNow.
We encourage you to ask your friends and family to sign up to WM Now to receive updates of what we are doing in the community. Home Page - WMnow | ||
