Community Safety Message: New iPhone Duo Launch

Community Safety Message: New iPhone Duo Launch

Your local neighbourhood policing team would like to make residents aware of the launch of the new iPhone Duo tomorrow. With significant public interest expected and devices valued at around £2,000, we anticipate increased footfall at retail stores and transport hubs across London.

Previous product launches have shown that criminals can target customers purchasing high-value items, particularly as they leave stores and travel home. We are working with retailers and local officers to provide reassurance and help keep our communities safe.

Crime Prevention Advice

✅ Keep your new device out of sight

Avoid displaying your phone unnecessarily when leaving the store.

Where possible, place purchases in a non-branded bag or conceal them from view.

✅ Remain vigilant on your journey home

Stay aware of your surroundings, particularly outside stores, at transport hubs and while using your phone in public.

If you feel uncomfortable or believe you are being followed, move to a busy public area and seek assistance.

✅ Use built-in security features

Enable device tracking and location services.

Activate biometric security and strong passcodes.

Ensure device recovery and remote-locking features are configured as soon as possible.

✅ Protect yourself online

Be cautious of unsolicited messages or emails claiming to be from Apple or delivery providers.

Never share passwords, verification codes or account details.

Our Policing Response

Local officers will be carrying out high-visibility patrols in areas of increased footfall to provide reassurance and deter criminal activity. We encourage anyone who witnesses suspicious behaviour or becomes a victim of crime to report it promptly.

Thank you for helping us keep our community safe.
