Thank you to everyone who attended our East Cambridgeshire Community Policing meeting last night on Teams.

Updates on previous priorities

Anti-social behaviour in Ely

Working with partners to tackle issues linked to squatted flats in Market Street and reduce associated crime and drug use. 

Supporting a vulnerable resident through a multi-agency approach while addressing ongoing ASB concerns. 

Carrying out high-visibility patrols and community engagement to gather intelligence and provide reassurance. 

Working with local businesses to encourage reporting of anti-social behaviour. 

Developing closer partnership working with Ely City CCTV to improve information sharing and help identify offenders. 

Referring young people involved in ASB to support and diversion programmes, helping reduce repeat incidents and reports.

Shoplifting in Ely

One man has been charged with 11 shoplifting offences, with a Criminal Behaviour Order also being sought against a persistent offender. 

CCTV appeals shared on social media have helped identify six suspected shoplifters. 

Working with local businesses and partners to improve reporting, strengthen Shopwatch participation and promote crime reporting tools. 

High-visibility foot patrols have been carried out to deter theft and provide reassurance. 

Close partnership working with Ely City CCTV has supported rapid responses to suspected shoplifting incidents. 

Outcomes have been secured in 79 shoplifting investigations, including charges, cautions and community resolutions.
