Doorstep crime |

South Wales Police have been made aware of reports of tree surgeons operating in the Bryntirion and Cefn Glas areas. While many traders are legitimate, residents are urged to be cautious of rogue traders who may cold-call at properties offering gardening, tree surgery, roofing, paving, or other home maintenance services. How to protect yourself from rogue traders: Common complaints involving rogue traders include taking deposits and failing to return, inflating costs during a job, carrying out poor-quality work, or leaving jobs unfinished. Doorstep cold-calling is not illegal; however, Trading Standards advises residents never to employ traders who arrive uninvited at their door. Please look out for elderly or vulnerable neighbours and share this advice where possible. Having the confidence to say "No thank you" and taking time to consider any offer can help prevent you from becoming a victim of doorstep crime.
