Shepherd's Bush Green Priorities Update and News. |

Friends,
Following last week’s ward panel, we have updated the priorities. Whilst we continue to deal with all crime and ASB, we can only have three formal priorities for the ward at any one time. This does mean that some concerns raised by residents won’t appear on the published list.
More details can be found the MetEngage frontpage but in short here are the ward priorities:
During the panel meeting, I was challenged about how we measure whether our work to tackle the sale of suspected stolen goods is having an impact. While it is difficult to prove direct causation, the wider crime picture is encouraging. A year ago, recorded robberies on the ward were typically in the mid-teens each month. They are now consistently in single figures, with a peak of ten offences in August, which coincided with the increased footfall associated with Notting Hill Carnival. Shoplifting has also reduced significantly. Where monthly totals were previously in triple figures, they are now generally in double figures. Levels will always remain comparatively high due to the presence of one of Europe’s largest shopping centres. Our ward team is back to full strength with four PCs and five PCSOs, including two officers in training. Additionally, we have secured funding for roughly forty hours of extra patrol time directly from the Home Office for the Green. This should last for the remainder of the financial year. Frequently, I get asked about arrest and search figures for the ward which I am happy to share – 154 arrests and 257 searches in the last three months – however I am keen to stress that many of our problems are not ones which we can arrest our way out. The only way to solve these problems is work with different agencies and most importantly together as a community. | ||
