Let's talk Section 59 warnings...

This one is for those drivers. You know the ones...
The ones whose driving manner makes everyone think, "What an idiot." 🙄
Or the ones who rev their car so loudly through the town centre that you can't help but hear Jay from The Inbetweeners in your head saying, "Ooooh, you're hard..." 🚗💨

Whilst they might think they're impressing everyone, the reality is they're usually just impressing us enough to take an interest.

A Section 59 warning can be issued when a vehicle is being driven in an antisocial manner causing alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public.

This week alone, we've issued 3 Section 59 warning letters, and we'll continue issuing them to anyone who thinks driving like a numpty is acceptable.

If you've received one, take it as a friendly hint. If the same vehicle or driver comes to our attention again within 12 months, that vehicle could be seized. Nobody wants to be making that phone call for a lift home. 😬

And for those thinking, "I'll just take the warning..." there's another thing worth knowing...
In certain circumstances, we can now seize a vehicle immediately without first issuing a warning. 
So if your driving is antisocial enough, the first warning you get may be watching your pride and joy disappearing on the back of a recovery truck. 🚛

So save the racing, revving and Fast & Furious auditions for somewhere else.

Drive sensibly, respect the community, and don't be that driver.
