✅ Always ask to see identification.
✅ Keep the door closed while checking credentials.
✅ If unsure, contact the company directly using a trusted phone number.
✅ Use a door chain or door viewer where available.
✅ Never feel pressured to allow anyone into your home.
✅ If you are expecting a genuine engineer, check the appointment details beforehand.

Looking Out for Others

If you have elderly relatives, neighbours or other vulnerable people in your community, please take a moment to discuss distraction burglary with them. A simple conversation could prevent them becoming a victim.

Report Suspicious Activity

If you notice someone acting suspiciously, knocking on multiple doors, or claiming to be from a utility company without a clear reason, please report it.
