A man with a substantial history of offending in Great Yarmouth was sentenced today after appearing at court. Michael McQueen, aged 39, appeared at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court today (Friday 16 October 2026) to be sentenced for a host of offences he’d been responsible for throughout the year. The court had taken a number of separate cases into account, which included charges such as possession of cocaine, and cannabis, criminal damage, harassment, assault, theft, possession of a weapon, and numerous assaults against emergency workers. McQueen, of no fixed address, had been subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), issued by the courts in October 2024, following a pattern of aggressive behaviour which included causing damage within a local pharmacy, and threatening members of the public. The Order required him to engage with a support and recovery service, and to not have an open container of alcohol in a public space. Following further offences, the Order was amended to include tighter restrictions on McQueen entering Great Yarmouth town centre. In late September, on one occasion, McQueen was seen on CCTV on King Street, breaching the CBO. He was then seen again a week later in the marketplace and Theatre Plain, resulting in police having to attend to arrest him. During those occasions, while resisting arrest, McQueen became abusive and threatening, spitting at a police car, bending the fingers back of one officer, and kicking two others; swearing grotesquely in front of members of the public. In custody McQueen’s violent behaviour had continued. After numerous breaches of the CBO, and further offences for which he had been arrested and charged, the defendant appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on 8th October 2026, before appearing for sentencing today in Great Yarmouth. Michael McQueen was sentenced today to 12 months in prison, while his Criminal Behaviour Order was extended for another two years, with further restrictions.
Sergeant Shane Carroll said: “The ongoing impact of McQueen’s repeated, aggressive offending and breaches of a Criminal Behaviour Order on police resources and the wider public has been substantial. “His offences are wide-ranging, including numerous assaults to our officers, and harassment to staff from other businesses and agencies doing their best to serve our community. “Nobody should have to live, or work subjected to this kind of behaviour.” | ||
