Theft of jewellery

Theft of jewellery

Dear Neighbourhood Watch Coordinators,

Did you see the recent alert about jewellery theft?

We would appreciate your support in sharing the following key crime prevention messages with residents:

Consider storing valuable jewellery in a safety deposit box or a suitably secured and insurance-approved safe.

Ensure doors and windows are secure and consider additional security measures such as monitored alarms, CCTV, video doorbells and security lighting.

Photograph and register valuable items using free property registration services such as Immobilise.

Review home insurance policies to ensure adequate cover for high-value items.

Be mindful of information shared on social media, particularly posts that may highlight valuable possessions or reveal when properties are unoccupied.

Report any suspicious activity promptly and encourage neighbours to remain vigilant.

The theft of jewellery can be particularly distressing due to both its financial and sentimental value. By taking simple preventative measures and maintaining community vigilance, residents can significantly reduce their risk of becoming a victim.

Thank you for your continued support in helping keep our communities safe.

Kind regards,

Crime Prevention Team
