You said, we did- community update from your Delapre South Northampton Team

Dear residents,

In July we set three local priorities for the Delapre South Northampton suburban area which includes Delapre and Rushmere, East Hunsbury, and Nene Valley. These were burglary, road safety and road traffic offences, and drug dealing and drug misuse. These priorities were based on concerns raised by local residents, together with local crime data and information provided by partner agencies, such as the local council.

These priorities have been the focus of much of our work over the past three months. Below is an update on some of the activity undertaken by the Delapre South Northampton suburban Neighbourhood Policing Team to address them:

Burglary

Over this period, there have been 14 residential burglaries across the area. We continue to support with burglary investigations visiting the area of every domestic burglary, carrying out proactive patrols in areas to prevent further offences, supporting vulnerable victims, and working with other agencies to provide security advice.

Road safety and road traffic offences

We continue to carry out proactive patrols and enforcement activity across the area to target road traffic and road safety offences.

We have been working alongside colleagues as part of Operation Aqua-Wave targeting car cruising, issuing Section 59 warnings to vehicles that are causing anti-social behaviour, and public space protection order tickets.

Over this period, there have been 13 reported thefts of motor vehicles, 27 reported thefts from motor vehicles, and 10 reported vehicle interferences.

Drug dealing and drug misuse

Over this period, there have been 17 reported drug possession offences, and four drug trafficking offences.

We continue to proactively tackle drug dealing and drug misuse in the area, securing two adult cautions for drug related offences and harassment, as well as two community resolutions for drug related offences and a dog causing injury.

Additionally, we will continue to engage with local businesses in key hotspot areas targeting persistent offenders and carry out regular proactive patrols.

Everyone who lives or works in Northamptonshire is invited to tell us about any local issues that concern them and the easiest way to do this is by completing our local priorities survey every few months so we can be sure we have your current views. You can complete the survey here.

For more information about local priorities and how and why we set them, please read our Priorities Q&A here.

Kind regards, Northampton Suburban Neighbourhood Policing Team
