Child to Parent Abuse

Child to Parent Abuse (CPA) is complex and often hidden due to the stigma attached to it.

Today, Wednesday 14 October, is CPA Awareness Day.

During 2025, 441 parents, carers and guardians from across West Mercia reached out to Parental Education Growth Support (PEGS) for support. Of those 441;

79% experienced CPA for more than a year before seeking support

75% experienced physical violence daily or weekly

91% experienced verbal abuse daily or weekly

40% said their child had made threats to kill

96% said it was impacting their physical or mental health

No family should face CPA alone. By bringing together health, education, social care, policing, the voluntary sector and local communities, we can strengthen support, raise awareness and help families access specialist services sooner.
