You said, we did- community update from your Castle Team

Dear residents,

In July, we set three local priorities for the Northampton Castle area. These were drug dealing and drug misuse, road safety and road traffic offences, and burglary. These priorities were based on concerns raised by local residents, together with local crime data and information provided by partner agencies, such as the local council.

These priorities have been the focus of much of our work over the past three months. Below is an update on some of the activity undertaken by the Northampton Central Neighbourhood Policing Team to address them:

Drug dealing and drug misuse

We continue to work closely with the Clear Hold Build Team gathering intelligence around drug dealing and drug misuse in the area. As part of this work, we have successfully executed two warrants over this period.

We have also secured two closure orders at addresses linked to drug supply, and we continue to work closely with residents to address the anti-social behaviours impact on the community.

Officers have used stop and search powers on 14 occasions relating to drug possession across the Castle area.

We continue to carry out proactive patrols to increase visibility and engage with residents and local business owners.

Road safety and traffic offences:

We have seized a number of e-scooters and e-bikes across this period and have issued Section 59 warnings to vehicles that are causing anti-social behaviour.

Working in collaboration with the Safer Roads Team, we will also be arranging a targeted day of action tackling anti-social motorcycle nuisance and e-scooters.

We continue to carry out proactive patrols and enforcement activity across the Dallington Spencer area to target road traffic and road safety offences including driving with no insurance, driving without a seatbelt, and drink and drug driving offences.

Burglary

Neighbourhood officers continue to support specialist burglary investigators by carrying out house-to-house enquiries, conducting leaflet drops and providing crime prevention advice to residents and businesses.

We continue to carry out and attend engagement events across the area, including police surgeries which allow residents to meet their local officers and raise community concerns. We work closely with the OPFCC to engage with young people across the area, including through Free 2 Talk sessions. You can access upcoming events in your area at northants.police.uk/area

Everyone who lives or works in Northamptonshire is invited to tell us about any local issues that concern them and the easiest way to do this is by completing our local priorities survey every few months so we can be sure we have your current views. You can complete the survey here.

For more information about local priorities and how and why we set them, please read our Priorities Q&A here.

Kind regards, Northampton Central Neighbourhood Policing Team
