Community Message – Vehicle Security Reminder

Good morning,

We would like to make residents aware that between 11th and 12th October, we have received a number of reports across Old Trafford and Stretford relating to interference with motor vehicles.

Reports suggest opportunist offenders have been trying car door handles in residential areas, looking for vehicles that have been left unlocked. In some cases, offenders may target vehicles in search of valuables or other property left inside.

We would like to remind residents to:

Always lock your vehicle, even if parked outside your home.

Double-check that keyless vehicles have locked correctly before leaving them.

Remove valuables from sight or, where possible, take them with you.

Avoid leaving vehicle documents, keys, wallets, bags or electronic devices inside your vehicle.

Report any suspicious activity to Greater Manchester Police.

A few simple security measures can significantly reduce the chances of becoming a victim of crime.

Please remain vigilant and help look out for your neighbours. If you witness suspicious behaviour please report it via 101, online, or 999 in an emergency.

Thank you

Trafford North Neighbourhood Team
