Community Update – Criminal Damage Offences in the Ellerby Street Area |
||
|
We are pleased to provide an update in relation to the series of criminal damage offences that occurred around Ellerby Street and the surrounding area, which understandably caused significant concern and frustration amongst local residents. Following extensive enquiries by local officers, a suspect was identified and arrested over the weekend. Thanks to the outstanding support of local residents who provided CCTV and doorbell camera footage, officers were able to secure sufficient evidence to charge the individual with 12 counts of criminal damage. This is an excellent result and demonstrates the value of strong partnership working between the police and our community. The evidence provided by residents played a crucial role in building the case and achieving these charges. We appreciate that some residents may have been keen for updates sooner. Cases involving multiple offences can take time to investigate thoroughly. Identifying a suspect is only one part of the process; officers must gather and review evidence, conduct interviews, prepare case papers and ensure the evidential threshold is met before charges can be authorised. While this can take time, it is essential to securing the strongest possible outcome. Thank you to everyone who assisted with the investigation and continued to support local officers throughout. This result sends a clear message that offences of this nature will be robustly investigated and that those responsible will be held to account wherever possible. If you have information relating to crime or antisocial behaviour in your area, please continue to report it through the appropriate channels, 101 or online at www.met.police.uk if the crime or ASB has already occurred, 999 if it is an emergency or you are witnessing the crime in action live. The information provided by our communities remains one of the most effective tools in helping us identify offenders and bring them to justice. PS Johnny Farrugia 580AW | ||
