I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Vehicle Crime - theft from / theft of, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. 🚨 Vehicle Crime Alert 🚨
We are appealing for information after a person was seen stealing items from a vehicle in the Sebastopol area overnight,
Unfortunately, thefts from vehicles can happen in a matter of seconds, often when valuable items have been left on display. Opportunist thieves will target vehicles where they believe there may be items worth taking.
🔍 Help us prevent vehicle crime by following these simple steps:
✅ Always lock your vehicle, even if leaving it unattended for only a short time.
✅ Remove all valuables from sight, including mobile phones, wallets, handbags, tools, sat navs and loose change.
✅ Take items with you whenever possible. Don't leave them hidden under seats or in the boot after arriving at your destination.
✅ Close all windows and sunroofs fully before leaving your vehicle.
✅ Park in well-lit, busy areas where possible.
✅ Consider fitting a dashcam or CCTV system at home if your vehicle is regularly parked outside.
✅ If you own work vans or vehicles carrying tools, remove tools overnight where possible and consider additional security measures such as alarm systems and steering wheel locks.
📹 If you have CCTV, doorbell footage or dashcam recordings that may assist with identifying anyone acting suspiciously around vehicles, please review your footage and report anything of concern.
👀 Remember: If you see someone trying vehicle door handles, looking into parked vehicles, or acting suspiciously around cars, report it. In an emergency or if a crime is in progress, call 999. For non-emergency incidents, report online or call 101.
